#2443 Ship Master Supervisor Manager I (MS30)
Role and Responsibilities:
Full Time position as the Ship’s Master. Must with strong leadership experience, communication skills, maritime transportation education, and shipboard experience. Effort includes the operation of the Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) presently located at San Diego shipyard and to relocate to NSWC Port Hueneme spring of 2025.
Position Qualifications:
•Must have a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience and possess a U.S. Merchant Mariner Master's License of uninspected motor vessels of at least 1600 gross tons.
•Must have Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation and three (3) years documented sailing experience on a USCG unlimited license.
•Must provide the leadership and experience to get the ship underway, anchor, support remote ops and return to port in a safe and effective manner.
•Must provide leadership in planning, scheduling, reporting, recommending and communicating to the crew and government personnel.
•Must have experience working with and leading a large diversified crew on daily work accomplishments.
•Must have experience in navigational watches, conducting training, instructing mates and completing bridge logs.
•Must have experience Operations Officer working with Deck Department and Medical Department.
•Must have experience as Admin Officer with attention to detail in ensuring paperwork submitted, timecards complete and procurement requirements identified.
•Must maintain communications with chain of command, crew, subcontractors, government personnel and when underway the contractor riders.
•Must attend and present as required pre- and post- briefings related to ship movement and schedules.
•Must have experience conducting safety inspection and ship drills and maintaining high levels of safety for all operations.
•Must keep all credentials valid including advance firefighting, physicals, medical person in charge and other Coast Guard requirements up to date.
•Must review training records, and schedule crew training related to ship operation drills.
•Must be able to satisfactorily complete background check and drug test.
•Must have Microsoft Office and writing skills to provide monthly level of effort reports, log entry reports, white papers and proposals.
•Must be able to represent the company for Test ship briefings, readiness reviews, and dignitary tours.
•Must keep chain of command informed of ship status, changes to schedules and crew ongoings.
•Must be able to follow company policies and procedures.
Preferred Skills:
•Experience with shipboard maintenance.
