#2531 Principal Field Engineer (FE50)

Role and Responsibilities: Full time Principal Field Engineer supporting numerous installations at Surface Warfare Engineering Facility (SWEF), PHD labs and the network infrastructure at NAVSEA PHD. The position demands a high level of expertise, leadership and ability to manage multiple installation tasks efficiently. The person will lead tasking including design, installation, integration, troubleshooting, electrical, network, cable pulling, BOM analysis and estimates. The position requires a focus on electrical systems, with responsibilities spanning a wide range of activities crucial to the execution of projects. Position Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and minimum of 10 years of technical experience or no degree and a minimum of 14 years of direct technical experience supporting technical projects. • Responsible for overseeing and managing the technical aspects of engineering projects, with a deep understanding of shipboard and commercial electrical systems, power distribution, control systems and engineering principles, as well as the ability to apply them in practical, real-world situations. • Able to lead a team and work closely with various stakeholders, including project manager, clients, and other engineering professionals, to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, including working with multiple customers, multitasking and able to provide engineering solutions. • Able to manage the technical aspects of engineering projects from inception to completion, including developing project plans, designing installation plans, estimating costs, setting milestones, researching material, interfacing with vendors and ensuring that all tasks are completed on schedule. • Able to design and implement electrical systems for various projects. This involves creating detailed schematics, selecting appropriate materials and equipment, and ensuring that all designs comply with relevant codes and standards. • Oversee installation and testing of systems, ensuring that they function correctly and efficiently. • Providing guidance, mentoring and support other technicians, develop their skills and knowledge. • Perform network copper and fiber infrastructure design and installations including data closet and in ground fiber splicing, CCTV and video matrix switching systems. • Responsible for coordinating and communicating with team members and customers ensuring that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goals. • Able to satisfactorily complete background check, receive and maintain a government clearance. • Able to follow company policies, procedures and complete required training: OSHA, safety, man aloft, etc. • Able to write, speak and understand English and able to write clear, detailed technical monthly reports. Preferred Skills: • Experience with rigging, basic steel framing and miscellaneous construction. • Experience with US Navy network and TELCOM systems. • Familiar with weapons systems support as well as shipboard equipment. • Experience with military circular-mil fiber connector assembly and testing. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to climb up and down the vertical ladders and able to lift and carry 40 pounds |
